Cob Building Workshop with Kevin McCabe Saturday 5th April 2025 – Places available
Celebrate earth day with us! Join us for a full day on Saturday 5th April 2025 at Dingle Dell. I will cover all aspects of building in new cob, including choosing the correct soil and making adjustments to what you have available as necessary, different methods of mixing including by foot and by machine, then showing you how to use this mix to build a wall or even your own cob pizza oven. We will also look at building a conventional building with the same mix.
I will be teaching the course myself so should be able to answer any questions you may have regarding any project of your own. The cost is £100 + VAT, (£120) which includes a delicious, homemade lunch and a short tour of Dingle Dell as seen on Grand Designs.

EARTH, LIME AND CLAY PLASTERING WORKSHOP
A full day course at Dingle Dell. I’ll be running this course myself, which will include mixing and laying on Earth / Clay / lime plaster, Lime skim coat, Lime render and Lime wash.

Mud & Stud (Wattle & Daub) Workshop
Saturday 12 August 2017 – 0930 – 1630 – Full day workshop
Used as a timber reinforced cob based internal wall, Mud & Stud is the Devon vernacular take on the more widely used Wattle & Daub.
Get some hands on experience in this flexible and pleasing technique helping to make the ‘ballister’ wall to our 2 storey spiral staircase at Dingle Dell.
I will be teaching this workshop myself so should be able to answer any questions you may have regarding any project of your own. The cost is £100 + VAT, (£120) which includes a tasty, homemade, light lunch and a short tour of Dingle Dell. Earth Flooring Course
A full day course at Dingle Dell. I will be running this course myself – we will be covering suitable mixes and laying techniques for a clay based beautifully finished floor. The cost of this course is £100 + Vat (£120) to include lunch and a short tour of Dingle Dell. You need to pay in full in advance to reserve your place – space will be limited to a maximum of 8 people.
Lime and Clay Plastering course – Surface Finishes
A full day course at Dingle Dell. I’ll be running this course myself, which will include mixing and laying on Clay/lime plaster, Lime skim coat, Lime render and Lime wash. The cost of this course is £100 + VAT, (£120) to include lunch and a short tour of Dingle Dell. Tour of zero carbon Dingle Dell with Kevin McCabe

Join us on a two hour tour of Dingle Dell, led by Kevin McCabe, to see progress so far on this amazing cob build as shown on Grand Designs.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see the skeleton of the cob building, during first and second fix stages of completion, and understand the network of ventilation, plumbing, electrics and technologies involved in this unique and zero carbon building.
A great chance to gain inspiration and ask a question or two!
£40 plus VAT (£48) each
This tour will only run with a minimum of 4 people – maximum of 8.

Earth Plastering
A full day course in clay (earth) based plastering at Dingle Dell. I’ll be running the course myself – after 30 years of mainly using lime putty based plasters and renders, I am increasingly preferring to use earth plaster indoors, which works particularly well on cob. The course will cover what goes into the mix, surface preparation, application by both steel and wood floats and finishing options. The cost of this course is £100 + VAT, to include lunch and a short tour of Dingle Dell. You need to pay in full in advance to reserve your place – space will be limited to a maximum of 8 people.
